When Ms. Spiegelmacher brought Mr. Lynch into our class, he seemed a bit nervous, but he was very friendly to us and he could answer (almost) every question. He had a very funny accent and pronounced his “th” like a “t”. When we interviewed Mr. Ross it was St. Patrick’s Day, which is a public holiday in Ireland, so he told us a few facts about this day. He also told us a lot of things about his home country, like why it is called green island or why Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland had something like a war.
Mr. Lynch visits Ireland just once or twice a year. We thought it would be very expensive, but he said that he is often able to find cheap flights. He also shared what his favourite places in Ireland are, what currency they use there and if they have a specific religion. Mr. Lynch told us so many things, but the only question he didn’t answer was how old he is. He just said: “I’m as old as Santa Claus!” Mr. Lynch said he grew up in Ireland with his family and has five brothers and one sister. Mr. Lynch’s first name is Ross. When he was in school, he told his German teacher that he would never live in Germany. Years later, when he bumped into him again, he had to admit that he lives in Germany now. Mr. Lynch works in the Irish Pub in Jülich. They even brew their own beer. But Mr. Lynch cooks very well, too, so you can also have a nice meal at the pub. He shared that he also met his wife in the pub. They are married now.
We want to thank Mr. Lynch for letting us interview him. He was unbelievably funny and answered more than we asked for. We learnt a lot about Ireland and Irish people.
